Note the smooth, shiny bone surface of this "lazy-S" shaped bone. Examine the blunted appearence of one end (A) compared to the relatively borader, flatter end (B).
The smooth and shiny surface tells you that this is the superior view of this bone. To determine the side of the body this bone is from, note that feature A, faces medially and, moving laterally from A, the arc curves anteriorlly to the midpoint of this bone before a slight posterior arc curves to feature B.
